Dr. Cedric Lichtenau @ IBM – From Mainframe to Quantum

- Cedric studied Computer Science and Physics at Saarland University and, received his Ph.D. on parallel computing architecture in 2000. He is working at IBM Research and Development Lab near Stuttgart currently as the chief architect for AI acceleration on IBM enterprise servers. He will be talking about his journey that started with the development of a PowerPC selfboot engine in vhdl and what learnings from his university time helped him most along the way! Cedric will also touch on IBM systems from the mainframe to quantum, the (agile) hardware development of high performance and high availability processors, as well as enterprise AI use cases and hardware acceleration.
